Saturday Project

As promised, here's a quick post.  I finally made time this weekend to decorate our room the way I have been wanting to, so here are some pics!  Ok, ciao

What's next . . .

I’m in another wedding the first weekend in March; this time it’s with my dear childhood friend, Sena, and she’s getting hitched to Cory in VEGAS! WooHoo! I am looking forward to that trip. “I” – because Seth can’t make it.

Our next leave is in May, and we are headed back to Houston; we’ll get to visit with Kirk, Kym, River and Ky for the first time in a couple of years, so we’re excited about that!

I hope to graduate in August; Yeah! And I haven’t made plans past that!

I promise to keep this updated better in the future!!

Neil and Caroline's Wedding

Well, after months of preparation, their wedding was finally here. The weekend was a really good time and the hacienda that they had it at was beautiful. Here are some pictures from that.

The Catch Up

So I think it’s safe to say that I am one of the worst bloggers ever, so here’s a quick catch up on the past couple of months in the lives of Seth and Tish.

Way back in October, we went a Halloween party; it was a really fun night. I was “Miss Asia Del Mar 2008” (which is the name of the place where we live) and Seth was a pirate. Arrr!!!

There weren’t any door prizes, but as you can see we had quite an array of costumes, and everyone looked great!

As I’ve mentioned before, our friends, Neil and Caroline, were to be married on Jan 17th (which they were but more on that later); I was Matron of Honor, so I got the plan the Bachelorette Weekend or Hen weekend for all my non-American readers.

We had an excellent time; on the Friday night a small group of us went and cheered to our hearts content for a little Latino boy, that some may have heard of, named Enrique Iglesias from the first row. On the Saturday night, a group of twenty of us wearing “Caroline’s Last Fling before the Ring” shirts (which were designed by yours truly) went to a Mexican food restaurant (which is not similar to Peruvian food, by the way) then headed to an 80’s dance club where they gave us VIP passes. I think that was more to keep us crazy girls separated from everyone else than make us feel special, but hey we took it anyway. On Sunday, we had a “Recovery Brunch” and headed home. It all went off with out a hitch and a good time was had by all. I rounded up all the photos from that night from everyone, and the total came to somewhere around 600, none of which I have with me right now of course. I’ll throw a few in later; I want you to see the shirts I designed!

So the next weekend was the boys turn to go out on the town, they didn’t take a single picture, and they all got too intoxicated to remember exactly what they did, so I guess we’ll never know . . . Kidding, of course. The boys played golf and went to the horse races, and the only elaboration that I got out of Seth about the weekend was that he killed everybody at golf and he only lost the equivalent of $6 at the horse tracks, so I guess we’ll leave it at that.

After that, the holidays came quickly upon us; we had the pleasure of getting to visit with most of our family and friends in the States, which was good. We did miss Seth’s brother, Kirk, and his wife, Kym, because they were busy having another baby. Ky joined the world on Dec 22nd! And we can’t wait to see him and River (and Kirk & Kym, of course) in May!

After New Year’s, we came back to Peru and went back to life as usual for us. I started a new semester, and I hope to graduate in August! It’s summer here, so we’re enjoying the sun, and Seth’s surfing like crazy, so life’s good.

Sorry that this post has been so long in coming. I've been swamped with work and school. But here's what's been happening . . .

Several weekends ago we went to Lima so that I could help our friends, Caroline and Neil, do some wedding things. They are getting married Jan 17, and I'm the Matron of Honor. I love planning weddings! This way you can put some faces to names when we talk about people.

Last weekend we had a fun weekend just hanging out with friends at home and on Sunday Seth went surfing. It was too cold for me to go (I'm such a fair weather surfer, literally) but I sat on the beach and watched. We went with Tom, who we met in London and has just arrived on site, and Karen, who just arrived from London too. (Note: They are not a couple. I don't think Tom's girlfriend in the UK would approve! HA!) Anyway, here are some pics from that.

Tom, yes, he is mildly crazy because he's not wearing a wetsuit, and it's COLD! But he's never surfed before, so he was doing quite good!

And one last thing from today, hot off the presses!

I saw and Seth participated in our first Air Raise! CBI is a specialist in building tanks, and they pioneered a construction method for placing the dome roof on top of the tank. So they build the outer ring of the tank, then on the inside of the tank, they build the dome roof. Once they have finished the outer ring and the roof, they perform an Air Raise, and it is what it sounds like. They place giant fans underneath the roof on the inside of the tank, turn them on and because of the pressure that builds up, the roof rises to the top of the outer ring of the tank. When the roof is in place the have pins that they hammer in to hold it then they weld it all together. It's a pretty amazing process and sounds much easier than it is. These things are huge and obviously heavy.

Today's Air Raise went really well according to people who know; it took about 2 hours and 15 minutes when it was expected to take about 2 hours 45 minutes. Like I mentioned, Seth got to participate. He was one of four guys standing at the top of the outer ring of the tank while the roof was being pushed up. He and the other guys held tape measures and relayed the heighth periodically to make sure that the roof stayed level. He had training and loads of safety gear but of course I was still a nervious wreck; those tanks are huge! But like I said it went well, and it was a good experience for him.
